This is the first game I attended where I kept a scorecard. My dad took me, my brother Bob, and my mom’s Uncle Mark Baliff to visit Shea Stadium for the first time. My Uncle Mark was from Akron, Ohio and an avid baseball fan. It was because of him that we went to the game. My Uncle Mark was the person who taught me how to keep score.
As the years have passed, I’ve forgotten most of the game. The one thing I do remember is that Uncle Mark bought my brother and me Mets pennants. Wow! My dad would never spring for something like that. 🙂 My dad did bring his 8mm film camera and the video of the event has been preserved.
